Insurance plans through the marketplace have many networks of providers that vary by plan and location. You should make your enrolling agent aware of any physicians that you would like to be in your network and we can help you find a plan that allows you to still visit them.
In most cases, you can only change your health insurance plan during open enrollment period. However, certain life events such as marriage, birth of a child, or loss of coverage may qualify you for a special enrollment period. You only have 30 days after an event to make changes to your coverage. If you become eligible for Medicaid or Medicare you can drop your plan and join that at any time.
If you are enrolled in the Essential Plan you will remain on that plan for 12 months even if your income changes and exceeds the limit required for eligibility. If you are on a plan using premium tax credits you need to visit your NYSOH portal or your agent to notify them of this change in income.
You can only enroll in health insurance and dental plans through the marketplace. However, the NYS Essential plan includes vision coverage and Telehealth. However, we can assist you with gaining other voluntary benefits outside of the marketplace.
